Simple with a Twist

Tank: American Apparel// Skirt: Mossimo// Clutch: Urban Expressions// Belt: Forever 21

Finally, my platforms are incorporated in an outfit post. These shoes go with every single outfit I wear, why? Because I love to mix and match and I make it so that they can be worn often. I decided to wear them with a lovely lace skirt that I have been meaning to post a picture of because lace is big this summer, especially in a white or cream color. I purchased this skirt a while ago when it wasn't as easy to find, and no, it is not from Forever 21 or H&M. It is from one of my favorite stores that I spend way to much money at when I only go in for one thing, Target! Instead of pairing it with floral prints, this time I went with a plain and simple American Apparel tank. I accessorized with an adorable Urban Expressions clutch, Forever 21 necklace, bangles, and a fun stalagmite ring.

I decided to keep it short and sweet today. Everyone have a great rest of their day!

Florals and Lace

It is a new week filled with sun and summer beauty! I am anxious to actually get my summer started LOL but until then I will just dress like I am on vacation and enjoying the summer sun. These photos were taken in a beautiful town located about an hour away from Los Angeles, Claremont, CA. It is known as the city of trees and PhDs, and this area specifically is known as "The Village." The Village is filled with college students, trendy restaurants, and vintage stores. Some of my favorite shops are located here: Speckled Hens, The Grove Vintage, and Glitter. If you are anywhere near this area, you definitely need to check out these shops and the whole village in general!

On to my ensemble, I love this combination of floral print and lace. This lace cropped top is from H&M and the shorts are from Forever 21. Forever 21 has a great selection of shorts and cropped tops that I need to get my hands on for this season! I decided to wear my new adorable platform heels to give this a chic summer look. I was just reading a great blog post/slideshow by Refinery29 discussing summer essentials, and one of them was the "day to night" heel. I do believe that these heels are just that. This clutch is a beautiful color that is not so much bright, but a perfect compliment to the bright summer prints. You can find this clutch here at Speckled Hens in the village or online at Trend Essentials in many different colors.

I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

"Go to" dress..

Yes, finally, a new outfit post! I know that ive been inconsistent, and I do apologize for that, but once summer is here I will have more time, hopefully! LOL I am known for taking on too many projects and things at one time, BUT it keeps me on my feet. I am very excited for this summer and the new adventures it will bring! Also, excited for more hours at work, so I have more to spend on clothes ;] Quilty as charged, I am a shopoholic, but what girl isn't? It just takes money and time to actually feed the addiction.
Now on to the main focus of this post, my outfit. I like to call this dress my "go to dress." It is cute, comfortable, and looks like I threw together a cute skirt and shirt without any effort. I accessorized with a cute bow clasped belt and an Urban Expressions woven crossbody bag. The shoes are new and I LOVE them, of course :) They also come in a gorgeous fuchsia color that you can find here, but I thought I needed more neutral colored shoes to go with any simple chic look I pull together. I hope you enjoy this look and have a wonderful rest of your weekend!

Ps. Activewear oufit posts will be coming soon! I am in my gym clothes just as much as I am in my normal attire, so why not show off my gym style ;))

On my Shopping List

It has been a busy past couple of months with school, work, interning, working out, and maintaining somewhat of a social life :). Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love everything I am doing right now because it keeps me on my feet, and I know it takes hard work to get where I want to be in the future. This does take away from my blogging time though, specifically my personal styled outfit posts. I will have some coming soon though, I promise!! One thing I keep in mind about my blogging is the reasons I actually began blogging. I want to keep myself inspired,  exercise my creativity as much as possible, inspire others, continuously learn about the fashion industry and social media in the industry, and continuously build my writing skills. I like to remind myself of my blogging purpose, so I do not get stressed out when I am not able to blog for a while. I am sure you all understand and are right there with me. Thank you to those who have followed me over time and for your support :]

With all of that said, I have had some time while sitting around at work to do some summer shopping and prepare for my summer trips to the river and Hawaii! I of couse, have created lists of items I would like for each trip, and i've kept up with the latest trends and items I need for the summer in general. I thought I would share my favorite items at the moment, and hopefully you'll be seeing similar items on me in my styled posts soon.

Starting from the top:
1. I have a fun summer backpack found at Threadsense. I have been in need of a backpack not only for school, but for hikes and whatever else i'll be doing on trips in the near future. They are everywhere right now, such as Target, Urban Outfitters, and many other stores.
2.As far as dresses go, the high-low has caught my attention. This bright pink and royal blue cutout dress is perfect for summer. Showing skin and staying chic at the same time. This dress is also from Threadsense.
3. These lilac cut up shorts from NastyGal are a must for the summer. Any colored denim is IN for this season.Perfect for summer casual wear, and you dont have to go with the cut up look. There are tons of different styled colored denim shorts for the summer. You can even do it yourself to a pair of old jeans. There are so many DIY that I have found on pinterest, so try it out!
4. A bold pair of pants is in during any season. The print just depends on what season it is, so yes, for summer florals are the print in demand. Mix and matching different prints and patterns is a huge trend. That is why I have been eyeing a great pair of floral pants. These specifically are from Asos.
5. I have had my eye on cute stilettos, just like these from Asos, for a while. These are definitely Carrie Bradshaw inspired! Many of my favorite bloggers are wearing exactly as Ms. Bradshaw does in "Sex and the City." Paired with floral pants such as the ones above or cute skirts and dresses with all types of prints and patterns. These are a must and stilettos never get old.
6. Bustier style tops are very popular and perfect to show off some skin for the summer. Wear it casually, pairing it with jean shorts just as they styled it on NastyGal, or you can dress it up with a chic high-low skirt. These are great for a hot summer day!
7. The Chevron pattern is getting bigger than ever. It is on everything from shorts to dresses to home decor. It looks best with bright colors which is perfect for this summer. These gorgeous shorts can be found at NastyGal, too.
8. Neon bags are everywhere and the satchel style is what I prefer. Satchels are great for the indie casual look and neon colors make everything better! (Well, almost everything) You can find this bold bag at Lulus.
9. A great pair of sunglasses is a must. I have yet to sport this style of sunglasses and am eager to get myself a pair, so these shades from Nastygal are at the top of my list. A little article I read showed some great examples of matching your sun shades to your lip shades, something to think about.
10. Last, but not least, is this studded collar. I know what you may be thinking, just buy a shirt with a collar, right? Wrong, this collar is a great accessory, just like a choker necklace, and it goes perfect with any dress or top! It'd be like adding this collar to the bustier top I have above. It just works! You can find great collars at Romwe.

I hope everyone enjoys! Let mee know what you think, and what items are on your summer list :)

Fashion Finder

We, as Fashion Bloggers, have a ridiculous amount of social networks where we can meet fellow bloggers/ fashionistas and generate traffic to our blog such as Chictopia, Lookbook, Pinterest, and so many more. One of my current favorites is Asos Fashion Finder. It has so many ways for you to be creative and show off your fashion talent. You can create outfits (similar to polyvore), upload your own personal style pictures, upload videos, and upload any article or picture inspiration of yours. Of course, you then network and vote for whatever comes to your liking.

I thought I would share a couple of outfits i've created over the past couple of days. Check out my complete profile here, and check out the specific items I used to create these outfits. If you join don't forget to add me and vote :].

Insta-Post

Yes, I am guilty of the latest Instagram addiction. I am still getting started though. You would think, as a blogger, I would be used to taking snapshots at every moment of the day, but no, sadly I am still getting used to it. I loooove pictures and capturing moments you want to stay with you forever, so being able to see everyones memorable moments throughout the day is fun and inspiring!

I know it has been a while since my last post, but this Instagram stich gives you an idea of what goes on in my daily schedule. I am a busy, motivated and driven girl who loves taking on every new opportunity that comes my way, which makes it hard to find time to take my blog photos. I am sure all understand ;). Thank you for keeping up with my posts when I do get the chance, and I will be more consistent once the summer comes :]

Have a wonderful week

Fell in love

with these brilliant platforms....

To continue with the 70's patterns and design, I thought I would share my recent Instagram of my new gorgeous platform boots. I was on the search for new platforms and looking for your basic black leather, taupe suede, or mint leather platforms, when these babies caught my eye. Not only do I have a love for 70's patterns, but this was a great pick for my summer wardrobe! The bright color palette, the boho hippie pattern, and platform are perfect to wear with any dress, skirt or pair of shorts. Like I said in one of my recent posts, platforms are a must for your summer shoe selection, not just the typical cute sandals. This is definitely one of those pairs of shoes, and I'm sure you have all experienced this, where you want to create every outfit around them and never take them off. So get ready because the following outfit posts will include my new babies ;))

This photo was taken with instagram, my new favorite app that android phones finally have available. Follow me @antiquestripes002.

Have a wonderful Sunday!!!!

Hippie Tapestries

Top: Forever 21// Button-up: Forever 21// Boots: Steve Madden// Sunglasses: H&M

Right when I looked at this 70's tapestry design shirt, I was of course, inspired to create a 70's look. This design is brilliant, and even though our parents might think it is tacky, it is high fashion chic! All of the colors and crazy patterns I adore at the moment are from the 60's/70's decades. To bring out the color and design of the top, I thought i'd wear my orange sheer button-up. A great summer color that, as you can see from past posts, I love to wear! A great pair of jeans went perfectly, and to top off this groovy outfit, I wore my platform boots ;) No jewelry needed. Simple and fierce is all I was going for, but the sunglasses are a hit!

I hope everyone is inspired and has a far out day! ;))

Sunburst

It is all about the simple items. Trying to stay cool during the summer is the goal which is why I thought this was a perfect simple summer outfit. No layering, heavy jewelry, or too much jewelry. I was also inspired by my Jeffrey Campbell heeled sandals because who doesn't want to work their outfit around a pair of Jeffreys!? They paired perfectly with my Betsey Johnson clutch and a couple of gold jewelry pieces. I have had these wonderful high waisted shorts for a while, and they are comfy and the perfect fit! I am all for the high waisted short for the summer season, it brings a sort of vintage look to your wardrobe without even trying! I thought i'd wear a sheer tank to keep this clean and simple look.

I hope everyone is inspired and has a wonderful Tuesday :]

Summer Feather

Happy Friday Fashionistas!!

It has been a sunny week over here in so-cal and I had to take advantage of it. Am I crazy for wearing this long sleeved button up on a hot day with the sun beating down on me? Possibly, but I am such a fan of layers and have been inspired by all of the fashion bloggers I follow lately and their layers of goodness. I love the color of this lovely, thin button up, and it paired well with the coral shorts. Of course, for the love of tribal prints, I had to throw in a fun pattern somewhere in this outfit. Enter my black and white tribal design tank.

To finish the outfit off, I decided to wear my suede black booties. As I said in my Summer Festival Post, the booties go so well with shorts, dresses, and skirts. I added in my feather clips to give that "indie zest" that I was looking for. I hope everyone is inspired for the weekend! Make it a good one!

Chic Flow

Chic flow is the first phrase that came to mind when I looked through these pictures. The flowy unbuttoned shirt, the hair in the wind and the all black with a hint of taupe look. I based this whole outfit off of the long sheer button-up I purchased a while ago and have only worn once! It felt necessary to wear it unbuttoned to give it the flowy hippie look that it deserves. I felt inspired by all of the great Coachella outfits i've seen from last weekend. I am loving the tribal design right now.

Working around the shirt, I decided to that I did not want to take away from the length, so I though i'd wear my short vintage, little black dress. It really brought out the design and emphasized on the taupe color of the shirt. The platform boots gave this the chic twist because I could've easily chosen a pair of cute flat sandals. The platform boot, whether it be Jeffrey Campbell Litas or simple platform booties, are a must for the upcoming summer. Wearing them with a pair of high-waisted shorts is a great summer boho look.

I finished this look with my unique Volcom fringe bag, Vintage Rachel Zoe style sunglasses, a teal feather, and a tribal necklace bought in a random vintage/music store in Soho, NY. I hope everyone enjoys this look and is inspired to go out and shop for summer!

Have a wonderful day
